The process approach methodology of managing your processes is essentially a process improvement tool. In the context of ISO 9001, it is utilized to improve the quality of a product which is generated by a given process. And when you apply this approach to all of your processes within your business operations, it becomes a total quality management approach.
This approach can go deep into any framework starting from the system, process, activity and down into the task levels. And it's quite a desktop exercise plus some onsite observations when necessary.
